Do You Get Paid For Writing Critical Reviews?

Do You Get Paid For Writing Critical Reviews?I often get asked the question, 'Do you get paid for writing reviews on sites like Amazon and GoodReads?' The short answer is no. For the same reason that they don't pay me to write books; they don't pay me to write reviews. When I go to my local library, I can find and buy several sample essays for a critical review essay for two books. Sometimes these are in other libraries, but most often I get to pick them up at the library and read them right there. This gives me a sense of how well the book is written, how well it is presented, and how professional the author is, in a variety of ways.As an illustration, I wrote a critical review essay on the latest from a certain author. I had some pretty favorable things to say about it and felt it was a pretty good book. The next time I went to the bookstore, I knew that I wanted to buy the book for my own collection. I went through my book collection and ended up with a hardcover edition of a book I hadn't even read, but I was curious about.Because I went through my books again, I discovered that the book I wanted to buy wasn't a sequel to a book I had previously bought. I had read it and liked it, but I wasn't sure whether or not I'd read it again. In order to find out, I simply read the essay again and picked up the book that had been recommended.Once I had the book, I looked through the book and realized that it was pretty much exactly the same as the one I had written. This made me realize that I had, without doubt, been paid to write the essay. I found out later that it was a book by the same author. If you ask, 'Do you get paid for writing critical reviews on sites like Amazon and GoodReads?' The answer is absolutely, without a doubt, yes.
